How long have you been blogging/vlogging/creating content?
I have been blogging for around 10 months. I'm absolutely loving sharing stories and top tips around pregnancy, birth and early motherhood!
Why did you decide to start your blog/vlog?
I trained as a Hypnobirthing teacher last year and realised there was so much more to my role as an instructor than just what content is on the page. I have so much passion and love for making sure women feel empowered by their births, that I thought it was time to reflect on my own experiences as a mum and baby grower! I meet so many mums and dads and have so many conversations around what they think is allowed in the birth room. This sometimes needs exploring in more depth to reassure mums and dads to-to-be that they can have a huge input in their birth experience.
Do you see this becoming a career or part of your career?
At first not at all! But the more I verbally told stories in class, the more I realised it would be helpful to a wider audience. Women and men need to know how empowering birth can be!
What do you hope to achieve for your content in 2018 and what’s your big-picture goal?
This year I am hoping to make connections with like-minded bloggers and companies that are in the birth and baby industries, and write lots of useful and helpful articles that will equip couples with knowledge for their births.
What is your favourite social media channel & why?
I LOVE Instagram! I'm a total addict! I love pretty pictures and snippets of everyone's days. It is such a great insight into people's lives. I know it can be jazzed up and not always 'real' but it makes me smile!
What is your favourite tool or app that helps in your content creation?
Instagram is proving to be a big game changer in connecting with bloggers and industry professionals. My website creator Wix is fantastic at helping structure and develop content and SEO ranking.
Who is your content inspiration and why?
I have a total girl crush on Mother Pukka. She is someone I connect with hugely due to her honesty and 'no shit' approach. I also had the opportunity to meet Vicki Psarias last month. My god what a woman! So much knowledge and is so supportive of new bloggers.
What do you like to do on weekends? Where can we find you hanging out?
If I'm not teaching I'm rearing humans! We are usually hanging around parks like Roundhay or Harlow Carr Gardens. Anywhere I can let me 2 and 6-year-old run free is where I want to be! If I can get pass out, you'll find me in Dirty Martini taking advantage of Saturday's happy hour!
If you could go anywhere in the world or experience any one thing, what would it be?
I am desperate to go to New York with an empty suitcase and come back with it full! And Ibiza is on the cards for 2020! I get TOWIE envy when they are there!
What're your tips for staying motivated and/or organised in your work?
Have a schedule written for the week ahead. I was a secondary school teacher for ten years so planning ahead is in my blood! Prioritise the tasks that need attending to first. Turn the TV off and try and keep your phone out of view whilst getting things done. It is so easy to drift off!
What is the one piece of advice you’d give other content creators & aspiring bloggers/vloggers?
Be honest, be yourself, show the passion for what you write and the message will be clear and engaging.
Fun/Random fact about you (go on, surprise us!):
I was a children's entertainer at parties in Leeds. It was the weirdest two hours of a week!
I was born in Swansea, grew up in Potters Bar and now after 13 years oop North am now an official resident of Leeds. And it is the best city!
