One of the perks of being a member of WeBlogNorth, is you get the opportunity to attend lots of nice events, socials and brand collaborations. Our first one of 2018, was a WeBlogger afternoon-tea for a handful of us Northern bloggers at The Courthouse, Cheshire (in Knutsford). It was a welcome way to see in the New Year and keep the festive celebrations going.
Here's what we got up to...
WeBlogger Afternoon Tea
First things first...who came along? This week's motley crew consisted of SpamellaB, Kat Horrocks, The LifBIssue, Jacinta Dawn, Georgie Glass, Proper Foodie, Turmeric and Tea, and me, aka HollyGoesLightly...oh and our youngest member - Baby Tom! 🙂
The Courthouse Cheshire is a former crown court and (sadly) famous for holding the trial of Alan Turing back in the 1950s. It's quite an amazing place to walk into and steeped in history, which they've been really sympathetic to in the renovation to what is now a restaurant, rooftop gardens and events/wedding venue.
The ceilings are high and the walls covered in mirrors and artwork (have a look at the re-worked famous mugshots, by local artist James Blinkhorn - even Sirius Black is up there!).
The Afternoon Tea
We were lucky to be able to still enjoy The Courthouse's Festive Afternoon Tea offering, which had some fun and quirky twists on the regular afternoon tea offering, infused with egg-nog flavours and minced-pie fillings, alongside the traditional warm fruit scones. But they do have a variety of options and in January, it's 2-4-1 across all afternoon teas and with their offering starting at just £7.95...you need no further excuse! Pop along and try for yourself - it's right by Knutsford station (which is only about 25 minutes from Manchester) and they have parking on site (again, about a 30 minute drive from central Manchester)...it's a great place for an afternoon out.
We drank tea, caught-up and talked about the blogging and photography related presents we'd got for Christmas (and I tried out my new filming tripod, stick thingy aka 'DJI Stick'). It was a great chance to catch-up and enjoy a foodie experience at the same time.
It's worth mentioning, that two of us WeBloggers required a gluten-free menu and Chef Ian Roberts and his team had no problem accommodating with a great selection of GF treats and sandwiches...
More events like this
There'll be plenty more opportunities like this coming up within WeBlogNorth and if you're a member, you'll be invited. So keep your eyes peeled on the private facebook group and also in the newsletter. It's a great way to catch-up with your fellow content creators, whilst also getting to know some new brands and gaining fab content for your blogs/vlogs/social accounts. Win win! (Even better when there's food involved!).
Photography: thanks to Georgie Glass for snapping away for us!
