You aren’t going to get thousands of followers and amazing engagement overnight, it comes with time and a lot of hard work!
How long have you been creatin
I have been creating content properly since April of this year, so relatively recently!
I have always enjoyed writing and being creative, so I decided to bite the bullet and set up my blog - I guess I put it off for so long due to what other people may say about what I was doing, but, for the most part, everyone has been so supportive and understands my vision and what I want to do!
Why did you decide to start your blog?
Initially, I started my blog purely to create a diary for myself to look back on in the future, about how I found certain experiences and also about any places and any styles that I loved at the time, but as I published it and found that people enjoyed reading it, I thought that I may as well let other people enjoy my content also!
Do you see this becoming a career or part of your career?
I have always wanted to work in Social Media, and actually went from college to study International Business and Marketing at university with the intention to work as a Social Media Marketing Manager! But, as the first year of my course came to a close, I knew that I wanted to take a year out to see where my blogging could go, all whilst working part-time in retail!
What do you hope to achieve for your content in 2018 and what’s your big-picture goal?
By the end of this year, I will hopefully be working alongside great personalities in the blogging community, allowing me to learn more from them and gain more experience and find my feet in the industry! I also want to be getting more involved with brands and blogging events to improve my status in the industry! In terms of the bigger picture, I hope to be working alongside or within companies where I can share my passion for styling and travel, and help inspire others to achieve their goals!
What is your favourite social media channel & why?
Oooh, now YouTube and Instagram both come close to being my favourite Social Media channel.. but purely based on the fact that I am on Instagram literally 24/7, means Instagram will have to win this one!
What is your favourite tool or app that helps in your content creation?
My favourite apps for content creation.. hmm, VSCO is an amazing app for those who want an easy way to edit their photos for Instagram etc.! I swear by it, and also Adobe Lightroom! For writing my blog content, I tend to just use the WordPress app, and I would class it as a favourite due to how easy it is to use and how helpful it was for me when I first started!
Who is your content
Sooo many people inspire my content and Instagram photos! Matt Benfield, James Samuel and Marcus Butler are great influencers who showcase different styles and edits on their feed! I also love travel accounts like Natasha Mastro who really showcase the best photography and edits of the world!
What do you like to do on weekends? Where can we find you hanging out?
Unfortunately, I work part-time at the weekends so not much is happening then for me 🙁
But during the week and any free time that I do have, me and my best friend Tabie (NB - Tabie took the picture above!) like to go out and explore Manchester (for the 1000th time) and take some more pictures for our blogs and Instagrams of our looks, food and any places that we’re enjoying! You’ll normally find me shopping away in the Arndale, or in the Northern Quarter getting my photo face on!
If you could go anywhere in the world or experience any one thing, what would it be?
If I could go anywhere in the world.. now that’s a tough one! I would probably love to travel to a bliss location like Bali or Hawaii just to enjoy the surroundings and experience a different way of life!
What're your tips for staying motivated and/or organised in your work?
For staying organised, I use a diary that I bought from Paperchase (I actually wrote a blog post that mentioned it), but it honestly keeps my life intact, it has loads of different sections where I can put blog ideas and general appointments, which allow me to see when I have time to get pictures for my blog or when I have free time to see my friends! In terms of staying motivated, try and gather a good support system around you that fully understand what your goals are and what you want to achieve so that they can keep pushing you forward when you feel like your heading back! Also, don’t think about time frames, that is definitely something I struggled with, thinking that I had to be at a certain point in my life for a certain age when you really just need to go at your own pace.. focus on your short-term objectives to reach your long-term goal!
What is the one piece of advice you’d give other content creators & aspiring bloggers/vloggers?
As I have just pointed out, it is important to move at your own pace, and this goes for aspiring bloggers as well! It is important to remember you aren’t going to get thousands of followers and amazing engagement overnight, it comes with time and a lot of hard work! Keep focused and the world will be your oyster!
Fun/Random fact about you (go on, surprise us!):
Hmmm, a random fact... I can bend my thumb all the way back, does that count?? Haha, I literally can’t think of anything else!
