How long have you been creatin
I started blogging around 5 years ago and it’s gone so fast! I started Youtube not long after and I’ve never looked back.
Why did you decide to start your blog?
I wanted to document the travel adventures that Steven and I were having, and I have always had a lot to say (too much according to my parents!), so writing it down seemed like the best idea. When people began to read it, it became a little addictive and so here I am!
Do you see this becoming a career or part of your career?
I’m a freelance copywriter and I make videos for a company in Canada every month, and they are both opportunities that have come from my blog. I’m so happy to be able to have made a career out of my hobby.
What do you hope to achieve for your content in 2018 and what’s your big-picture goal?
I want my content to help people but also make them laugh. I made a really honest video about trying for a baby and I’ve had so many lovely messages from strangers who have watched it and it’s made them laugh a little during a hard time.
Big picture-wise, I am expecting my first baby in December and then I want to be able to be fully freelance with my writing again so I can juggle motherhood and my career.
What is your favourite social media channel & why?
I love Instagram at the moment, especially the stories. I love nosying at others peoples’ lives and sharing my silly carpark supermarket hauls.
What is your favourite tool or app that helps in your content creation?
I couldn’t live without Buffer! I use it for several of my clients (although I’m rubbish at queuing my own promo up!) and it’s so easy to use, especially for cross posting.
Who is your content
I really love Jenna Marbles as she’s so real and silly and when I met her a few years ago she was also really lovely. I love Grace Helbig too, and Emma Brummy Mummy of Two - basically anyone who is happy to be really real online, even if it’s not always glamorous. That’s my jam.
What do you like to do on weekends? Where can we find you hanging out?
I am not good at relaxing, so I always have plans. If we have a ‘free weekend’, my husband and I will always fill it, either with going somewhere or by getting things done in the house. We’ve pretty much redecorated the whole house over the past few months and now we’re working on the nursery!
If you could go anywhere in the world or experience any one thing, what would it be?
I want to go everywhere! I would really love to go to Bali and Australia. I love any sort of shared experience with a big crowd, so perhaps a festival in another country where everyone is just loving the vibe altogether. Does that sound silly? I just love that moment in a gig where everyone is singing along at the top of their lungs and everyone is just full of love and life.
What're your tips for staying motivated and/or organised in your work?
Write everything on a to-do list, even little things that you’d have to do anyway. Make sure it’s a paper list and delight in crossing them off as you go.
What is the one piece of advice you’d give other content creators & aspiring bloggers/vloggers?
Forget the ‘rules’ about when you should post, or having to have a theme on Instagram, just focus on the enjoyment, otherwise, it will become a chore and the hard work won’t be worth it.
Fun/Random fact about you (go on, surprise us!):
I can lick my elbow! Honestly! If you ever see me IRL you’re totally allowed to ask me to do it on demand - I’ll act embarrassed but actually, I love doing it!
