So, I've already shared the first bunch of official photos from last weekend's amazing event, but for those of you that weren't there, I thought you might like to find out who were the Northern Blog Awards 2018 winners...
Northern Blog Awards 2018 Winners
This is just year two of the Northern Blog Awards, aka NBAs and in only a year, the event has grown significantly. This showed when there were over 4,000 nominations received across the categories earlier this year! (For those of you that don't know, the Northern Blog Awards are an open-nomination process, allowing anyone to nominate anyone and allowing content creators to nominate themselves - giving an open, fair and non-exclusive opportunity for everyone to be considered for shortlist by the judges!).
The Judging
Next, we had a variety of judges - professionals from various niches - sift through the hundreds of nominations in each category (a tough job!). They looked through every blog, vlog, website and social account nominated and marked each nominee against a set criteria. This criteria included things like: quality of writing, engagement with audience, unique content, quality of visuals and more. From those marks, 5 nominees were submitted for shortlist in each category.
To the Public Vote
These shortlisted nominees were then opened to the public vote, where the wonderful general public could vote for their favourite content creators. The judges score was worth 60% and the public vote 40% of a final cumulative score. This meant that there was no chance of it being a "popularity contest" and that anyone, regardless of follower count, had an equal opportunity of scoring high. This is how our Northern Blog Awards 2018 winners were chosen.
And here they are...

Ones to Watch
This year, something new was introduced. During the judging process, there were many content creators identified as highly commended, or so close to being shortlisted, that it seemed only right to recognise those we deemed as "ones to watch" for next year.
Somebody has to Win
An awards ceremony means that some people will be deemed "winners" and some won't. But this truly is a recognition and not aimed to make anyone feel less of a content creator. So if you didn't win this year or last, don't be disheartened! Use it as inspiration and motivation to keep on going making amazing content and to come back next year and try again. Unfortunately not everyone can win (it'd be a VERY long ceremony if they could!) and really it's about us all being there in one room together, making new friends and forging relationships and collaborations. Remember that.
Congratulations to each and every one of you that were nominated, shortlisted and won this year. What an amazing achievement!
