How long have you been blogging/vlogging/creatin
I started blogging around a year and a half ago. I created my site but was too scared to post anything for a good few weeks or so! I think it was a fear of putting myself on a platform and laying my work bare for all to see. It's something that can be quite daunting at first.
Why did you decide to start your blog/vlog?
I've always loved writing; it's something that I've absolutely adored since I was young. When I finished university (studying English Literature, naturally) I wanted to continue to hone my passion for writing, but under less academic pressure. My blog, therefore, started as a personal project really, and it's snowballed from there.
Do you see this becoming a career or part of your career?
Most definitely. I actually work as a content creator and social media manager for my day job, so I feel very lucky to be able to earn a living from what I love doing most!
What do you hope to achieve for your content in 2018 and what’s your big-picture goal?
Ideally, I'm hoping to share my content on a much wider scale, so building followers is key. I've therefore set monthly goals for myself in order to reach a target I have in mind for the end of the year. Big-picture wise, I want to start working with more brands within the drinks/fine dining industry- it's an area I'm currently moving into at the moment, so fingers crossed there are exciting things ahead.
What is your favourite social media channel & why?
Probably Twitter. I was incredibly late to the Twitter party, but I generally find it a very supportive, positive environment for bloggers. It's also a great platform to build genuine followers and feel a part of a lovely community.
What is your favourite tool or app that helps in your content creation?
I love the Hemingway app - it's so useful for organising sentence structures. It highlights overly-complicated sentences too, which is a bonus. I can sometimes have a bit of a habit for rambling on with myself.
Who is your blogging/vlogging/content
I don't think I actually have a specific person in mind for this one. I think my inspiration comes from books, magazines, and journals more than anything else. I take real appreciation in great pieces of writing, as they give me the incentive to try and create something articulate and engaging.
What do you like to do on weekends? Where can we find you hanging out?
You can usually find me in Northern Quarter, in various watering holes with a gin in tow.
If you could go anywhere in the world or experience any one thing, what would it be?
I'm desperate to go to Madagascar. I'm trying my best to save up to actually make it happen, but I somehow keep spending all my money on clothes and booze. One day though...
What're your tips for staying motivated and/or organised in your work?
I'll be honest, I can find it quite hard to stay motivated at times! I always have tonnes of ideas for blog posts, it's actually having the time to write them that's the problem. I'll usually try and organise some To-do lists each week, and set some time aside at weekends to crack on with some writing.
What is the one piece of advice you’d give other content creators & aspiring bloggers/vloggers?
Don't try and create content for others- stay true to your own writing style. Create content that you love, share things that you're passionate about, and the rest will follow.
Fun/Random fact about you (go on, surprise us!):
Bigging myself up here, but I was once the captain of Concord. I was 6 and got to wear a really big captain's hat. What a day.
