I want to win an award. I know what I need to do. It's about making the proper time to get it done.
How long have you been blogging/vlogging/creating content?
Since 2011!
Why did you decide to start your blog/vlog?
I had just bought my first house. An abandoned property which needed total renovation. I started blogging to document our progress and over the years it's evolved with our family and home into an interiors focused culture & lifestyle blog.
Do you see this becoming a career or part of your career?
I was a trained journalist in my early 20s so always find writing is a part of my core. Saying that, I already consider my blog my second job as it takes time to make work. My day job now is within SEO, UX and website performance so a skill acquired in one role is always transferable to the other. Winner.
What do you hope to achieve for your content in 2018 and what’s your big-picture goal?
I want to win an award. I know what I need to do. It's about making the proper time to get it done.
What is your favourite social media channel & why?
Instagram is what I always check first but for acquiring traffic in a visual industry such as interiors blogging? Pinterest every time.
What is your favourite tool or app that helps in your content creation?
Scheduling tools are the only thing that make blogging possible for me alongside a full time job. Favourites include: Hopper, Hootsuite, Buffer & Tailwind.
Who is your blogging/vlogging/content inspiration and why?
Sarah Akwisombe. Her design taste is similar to mine so I'm automatically drawn to her content but I've watched Sarah grow from a cool blogger to insanely successful businesswoman over the past few years. She's managed to carve a passionate career whilst allowing quality family time. For any working parents out there, they will know just how difficult that is to achieve.
What do you like to do on weekends? Where can we find you hanging out?
Most likely B&Q to be honest! Always a DIY or decorating day in our house. Either that or exploring the city with my daughter.
If you could go anywhere in the world or experience any one thing, what would it be?
Forever at the top of my bucket list, I want to see the northern lights.
What're your tips for staying motivated and/or organised in your work?
Schedule what you can to help give breathing space to be creative and flexible when you need to. I find it's hard to stay motivated if you always feel like you're playing catchup.
What is the one piece of advice you’d give other content creators & aspiring bloggers/vloggers?
Consistency works. It's something I myself struggle with but continue to aspire towards.
Fun/Random fact about you (go on, surprise us!):
I walked down the aisle to the Jurassic Park score and as such now have dinosaurs all over our home in memory. I'm gonna make dino decor happen you guys.
