There is so much to learn and you must never stop learning.
How long have you been creating content?
I have been blogging for nearly 2 years.
Why did you decide to start your blog?
I started my blog for 3 main reasons. Firstly I love to write and have written everything from short stories to poetry to even publishing a book.
Secondly, on reaching the age of fifty, I realised that this age group were greatly underrepresented on social media and I wanted to write about topics that affected this age group such as menopause and empty nest syndrome. I also wanted to write about fashion, beauty and travel, as those of us over the age of 50 still like to have fun and adventures!
Thirdly, I was suffering from anxiety and depression at that time and writing became a kind of therapy for me. Blogging opened up a whole new world for me in a positive way.
Do you see this becoming a career or part of your career?
As I only work from home blogging is definitely now becoming my career rather than just a hobby. It's fabulous that I can have a career that I enjoy so much.
What do you hope to achieve for your content in 2018 and what’s your big-picture goal?
In 2018 I am hoping to get more involved in spreading the word about improving the health of women over the age of 50. This can be through health, fitness, mental health and general confidence. My long-term goal is to keep improving my writing and learning more about blogging ( especially the technical side !)
What is your favourite social media channel & why?
Instagram is my favourite social media channel. I love the fact it is a very visual channel and it's a great way to get to know someone by looking at their photos that they post. Plus I find the Instagram users a real friendly bunch of people. I have made some great friends on Instagram.
What is your favourite tool or app that helps in your content creation?
I love learning about improving my photography skills so I love any tool/app associated with this.
Who is your blogging inspiration and why?
My inspiration for starting and continuing my blog is Vicki from Honest Mum. I followed her blog for years and the way she writes about supporting women is inspirational. She is also the most down to earth person I know and would help anyone. It is her that I am most thankful for, as to where my blog is now.
What do you like to do on weekends? Where can we find you hanging out?
On weekends I am always active and busy. I love to go to the gym, Zumba class and maybe a game of tennis. I love to walk my dog George in the lovely countryside around here and maybe find a nice tea room for coffee and cake. Every weekend I also spend time with my grandson who is two years old.
If you could go anywhere in the world or experience any one thing, what would it be?
My dream is to travel on the Orient Express from London to Venice. I am an old romantic and I love the old style of travelling by train.
What're your tips for staying motivated and/or organised in your work?
To stay motivated I use a planner specifically for bloggers. This helps me plan posts, stick to deadlines and keep track of any brands I am working with.
What is the one piece of advice you’d give other content creators & aspiring bloggers?
My advice would be to write about things that interest you. Only by being interested in your topic, can you write freely and naturally. Also, practice taking lots of photos and keep trying to improve all the time. There is so much to learn and you must never stop learning.
Fun/Random fact about you (go on, surprise us!):
I used to love amateur dramatics and I once auditioned for the part of the Good Witch in a big stage production of The Wizard Of Oz. I didn't get the part but I was, in fact, offered the role of the Bad Witch and instead of wearing a pretty pink dress I wore a black dress, had a green face and a large prosthetic nose! Not quite what I had in mind!
