How long have you been blogging/vlogging/ creating content?
My New Years resolution is to try something new, I love exploring new food spots so it seemed like a perfect time to start! I think it's been a great way to improve my wellbeing to get fresh air, meet up with friends and take the time to have indulgent food.
Hungry Northern Mamas foodie places for parents started up at the end of January this year. I've recently branched out into Nourish Northern Mamas (my mama tribe and feed your soul Instagram).
Why did you decide to start your blog?
It was a brainwave while out for lunch with my awesome northern mama friend and myself to start an Insta that showed fabulous baby and child-friendly places to eat and so hungrynorthernmamas was born!
Being a busy mum with two little ones I found that I struggled to make time for myself so I started to look into self-care. Nourish Northern Mamas is my Instagram to discover and share ways to take time, refresh and recharge my days.
Do you see this becoming a career or part of your career?
I would love for the blogging to take off and to explore more places for family-friendly food. It's a great creative outlet and would love it to be more than a hobby!
Ultimately it would be awesome to combine my passion for great food with self-nourishment at mama meetups.
What do you hope to achieve for your content in 2018 and what’s your big-picture goal?
To build a useful blog to be proud of that will inspire parents to find interesting places for families to eat out. I would love to grow my Nourish Northern Mamas content and following in the future too.
At the mum's enterprise roadshow with my little one, I met brilliant business women. I like to wear my BOB x Our kid mumboss tee to remind me of the awesome ladies I met and their inspirational stories.
I am lucky to have a tribe of friends and family who believe in me and help me to keep going too. I have had a pretty positive experience with the Instagram community so far and have found it to be a great source of motivation and support. I'm a big fan of women supporting women and collaboration, not competition.
What is your favourite social media channel & why?
Definitely Instagram it's amazing how one photo can inspire a whole adventure!
What is your favourite tool or app that helps in your content creation?
I like using Boomerang I just need to remember to use it more! I also need to start using IGTV so that's a mini goal for the rest of the year!
Who is your blogging/vlogging/ content inspiration and why?
I love mother freckle’s content as it’s so relatable and it’s relevant to life with kids in the north and parenthood in general!
My favourite crafty blogger and fellow foodie is Evanssentcreations who makes me laugh with her awesome (sometimes sweary!) cross stitches. It's interesting how she does her quirky content and showcases her creations.
I enjoy the motivation and self-care inspiration from Kat Horrocks, it reminds me to keep going for my goals and that it’s ok to make time for myself.
What do you like to do on weekends? Where can we find you hanging out?
It’s good to explore the maker's markets as there’s always something fresh and quirky to be discovered. My favourite is the one at the Lowry as its nice to have a stroll along the quays to walk off the morning's foodie treats.
I love to be inspired by places you can go that welcomes kids. It is the best feeling to get out, get fed and get happy with your brood!
Bambino kids cafe in Worsley is a super relaxed, great value venue who cater for the whole family. I'm a big fan of their lovely day and evening events too. They do the best rich hot chocolate and it comes with Dinosaur sprinkles so definitely worth a visit!
I am on a quest to find the ultimate scone at the moment, it's got to be proper clotted cream, warm and the right jam ratio. A coffee shop is my ideal way to enjoy the weekend. Bill and Betty's tea room in Cheadle is a gem of gorgeous cakes, decadent sandwiches and friendly staff who go above and beyond even when you bring your whole brood.
If you could go anywhere in the world or experience any one thing, what would it be?
It would be epic to do a Man vs Food Style, Mum vs Food tour of the USA in a Cadillac!
What're your tips for staying motivated and/or organised in your work?
Chip away at it every day and it doesn’t matter how long it takes to get there as long as you don’t give up before you have realised your full potential.
What is the one piece of advice you’d give other content creators & aspiring bloggers/vloggers?
To try and not be afraid of failing. Every journey begins with a single first step. My family motto is Believe so I try to live by that.
Fun/Random fact about you (go on, surprise us!):
I have two Blue Peter badges, I'm just that cool!
