We get asked a lot about SEO, and backlinks are a huge component to your site’s traffic and ranking in Google search. So today we’re sharing how to get more backlinks to your blog. As always, we prefer a community-focused, collaborative approach to growing your content online. No spam or fads here!
What is a backlink?
"An incoming hyperlink from one web page to another website."
Guest Posting
Most of us have heard of this one! But are you doing it? The best way to build backlinks is to get your content published on another site (e.g another blog or online publication)
This is one of the most effective uses of backlinks because you’re sharing value up front with people, which means they’ll wanna click through to your blog and see more!

If you’re feeling really brave, reach out to online publications and pitch yourself!
Brand and PR Collaborations
Perhaps when pitching to brands, you offer to share content on their blog or website? They’re getting valuable content promoting their product/service, whilst you’re getting a backlink.
Or, if you’re taking part in a campaign, ask them to mention your blog post somewhere on their social media (e.g. sharing it on their Twitter or swiping up on their story) and get them to link back to you.
Bring this up from the start to make sure they’re okay with this, and don’t forget to follow up ASAP and share the relevant link with them!
Features and Mentions Online
Quoting experts for an article, Q&A, interviews, testimonials for products/services. There are so many ways you can get featured on someone’s site.
Keep your eye out on Twitter, Facebook groups and other places online for opportunities. Writers and publications will often post with a hashtag like #journorequest if they want someone to get involved in an article.
Don’t be afraid to ask as well, if you like someone’s interview series and want to be considered.

Of course, this point goes back to the most important thing for SEO - writing good content. Focus on what you’re giving to your community and put effort into your blog content. If this is your focus, first and foremost, your content will be loved and shared.
