FEATURED BLOGGER OF THE WEEK – Young, Wild and Fibroblastic
Name: Lydia Brain
Blog URL: www.youngwildandfibroblastic.com
Twitter followers: 182
Instagram followers: 175
How long have you been blogging?
I have been blogging for about 6 weeks, so very fresh off the block! Things have been a bit of a whirlwind since my first post and I have also written an article for Babe and The Tab, as well as talking on BBC 5 Live and the Victoria Derbyshire show. I am really enjoying blogging and I'm very excited to see where it takes me.
Why did you decide to start your blog?
What do you hope to achieve for your blog in 2017?
I hope to reach more people (both with and without cancer) and write articles that either resonate with them or open their eyes to our world. I hope to help some other young adults in a similar situation to me feel less alone and supported in our community. I am excited to develop my writing skills and create powerful, emotive pieces. I would also like to promote the causes I support (Trekstock, a charity for young adults with cancer, and GRACE, a charity for gynaecological research). Advocating and championing their work to raise awareness of the issues faced by young adults with cancer.
What is your favourite social media channel & why?
I'm a huge Twitter fan, I love its ability to start huge debates and discussions across the world and putting people in touch from any walk of life. There is always something on Twitter to make me giggle, one of my favourite days at work ever was when the David Cameron pig head story came out, Twitter was on fire!
Who is your blogging inspiration?
I am a huge fan of The Pool, more of an online magazine than a blog but the writers at The Pool are certainly my biggest inspiration. They always write with such honesty about important matters that mean something to real women. Their articles breakdown stereotypes and taboos which is what I am trying to achieve with my blog. It is so refreshing to read such a varied range of content because I (just like a lot of other women) am interested in both politics and make up!
What is the one piece of advice you’d give other bloggers & aspiring bloggers?
Fun/Random fact about you:
I have an irrational fear of stairs.
