How long have you been blogging?
I actually started my blog around 5 years ago, but used it more as a diary for my fitness journey originally and only posted occasionally. I had my site revamped towards the end of last year, and have become more consistent with my blogging and have invested more time into it.
Why did you decide to start your blog?
As a Personal Trainer it was originally a way to keep me up to date with the fitness industry and as I mentioned before as an online diary of my journey. Keeping myself accountable, and documenting the highs and lows of my weight loss.
What do you hope to achieve for your blog in 2017?
I would love to grow my blog in 2017, and hopefully be able to make some income from it. I have found a love for writing and I would love more people to see my content. I am also trying to grow the lifestyle aspect of my blog, as I found myself limited when solely focusing on health and fitness. It is not my whole life, and as I live a balanced lifestyle that involves meals out, drinks with friends etc., I want to share this side of me as well.
What is your favourite social media channel & why?
This probably changes on a daily basis, I have a love hate relationship with social media. I love Instagram for inspiration and looking at other people’s beautiful images but really struggle to grow on this platform myself. And whilst I love the quick and ever changing world of Twitter it is hard to keep on top of it, and see what is going on!
Who is your blogging inspiration?
Oh gosh that it is a difficult question! In the Fitness Industry probably Carly Rowena. She is one of the first bloggers I followed, and I have seen her progress and achieve amazing thing. I also find her content so relatable. In general, Em Sheldon. She is absolutely killing it, but is so down to earth. She always seems to find time to respond to tweets, comments on social media and again I find she keeps it real on her blog. She looks awesome whilst still shows that you can enjoy life as well.
What is the one piece of advice you’d give other bloggers & aspiring bloggers?
Keep it real, and be true to you. I found trying to fit into the role of perfect fitness blogger really tough as it wasn’t me. I love exercise and healthy food don’t get me wrong, but it isn’t all I do. Since I have opened up my blog to include other types of content I found a whole new love for writing and blogging and have so much more inspiration. Find what works for you and don’t feel you have to be a typical fitness blogger, or be pigeon holed into any other genre.
Fun/Random fact about you:
I am a huge football fan. I’ve had a season ticket at Stoke since I was 6 years old, so that’s 26 years (Yep I am 32) and I still love it as much now as I did back then. Football is a huge part of my life, and I drive down to all the home games. I even planned my wedding to be out of the football season, and made sure it didn’t coincide with the European Championships. It left us with only 3 weekends in the whole year to play with but we made it work!
