How long have you been blogging?
3.5 years
Why did you decide to start your blog?
What do you hope to achieve for your blog in 2018?
Of course I want it to grow. Having moved to the UK last year, I did a relaunch because I wasn't able to blog the way I wanted back in Germany. I sort of started from scratch and now find my way and style more and more. It's an ongoing process but I really want to combine my style with beautiful places throughout the UK. I love exploring and travelling here and show my style. We're currently searching for a place to buy and I'm dreaming of doing more interior stuff, I'm currently not able to do it but if we buy something, I will start doing it. It would be a dream come true.
Being an older blogger (46) I want to show that age isn't that important. I'm not focussing on my age but on life in general. I mean we were at a mature age when we left Germany, sold our house and everything - a huge step but I hope I can show that it's so important to follow your dreams and never give up. It's hard but we only have one life and should make the most of it. I still miss our Swedish house but we gained so much here and people should never give up their dreams just because they are older. I hope I can transport that message somehow.
I've just started vlogging as well and really enjoy it, I think YouTube is a great addition to my blog and hope I can grow my channel.
What is your favourite social media channel & why?
Hands down Pinterest. I used to be all over Instagram for years but the platform lost its appeal to me because it's all about buying followers and like these days. It has become so fake if you ask me. Such a shame. I really discovered Pinterest some months ago. It gives me so much inspiration, ideas for photos and I'm always making a list of all the places I would love to visit. I have to say it really helps me with my blog direction as well - life & style in Britain. If someone is just starting out as a blogger, my advice would always be - use Pinterest for inspiration and help.
Who is your blogging inspiration?
I absolutely adore Julia Engel of www.galmeetsglam.com. Although she is huge, she replies to e-mails or messages on Instagram and seems like such a genuine person. I love her style so much and although she is so much younger than me, she inspires me. Mostly younger people inspire me because the older ones just keep stressing their age (not all of them of course!). I don't want to be like that or let's say I don't want it to be my main focus.
I also love Aimee Song, her vlogs on YouTube are amazing. I would never ever have guessed that she would be so down to earth considering the fact that she is one of the biggest ones in the industry.
What is the one piece of advice you’d give other bloggers & aspiring bloggers?
Fun/Random fact about you:
I lived in Egypt as a teenager and didn't speak a word of English. My mum and that's no joke forced me to go to the British Council to learn the language. Back then I despised her for that (well I was 15 years old!) and now I'm so grateful. I LOVE the British accent, I was even able to pick up the accent a little and later in Germany even studied the language. Now I live in the UK! Fate!*
