Speak to as many other people in your industry as you can. You will never stop learning...
How long have you been blogging/vlogging/creating content?
I have been sharing recipes and fitness tips since I started personal training a couple of years ago but have only really got properly into blogging in the last 6 months and have recently been doing some vlogs too.
Why did you decide to start Jodie's Fit Formula?
I am really passionate about helping as many people as possible get as healthy as they can. Whether this is providing healthy recipes to give people ideas for easy, nutritious food or some inspiration for a home workout. I called my brand 'Jodie's Fit Formula' because, for me, that is what health is, a formula. You need good food, exercise and a happy mind to be truly healthy. I try and provide content that covers all of these bases because they are all equally as important to me!
Do you see this becoming a career or part of your career?
I would love for this to become a part of my career! I made the decision to go back into education and enrolled to do a Food Science and Nutrition degree in September because I want to know more about food, and with that, I want to share my knowledge to help others make the right choices. I want my blog to be a reliable source of great content and would love to see it grow.
What do you hope to achieve for your content in 2018 and what’s your big-picture goal?
What is your favourite social media channel & why?
I am hoping to grow my following on all of my accounts, in particular, my YouTube channel as this is my favourite way of communicating, I feel it is much more personal and for me, social media can give false impressions of people, whereas I find talking through video is much more real!
I am also focusing on having much more face to face contact via some events that I am running this year. The first ran on the 13th of January and was a workout, brunch and goal setting event; I opened it up to 30 people and it sold out which was so lovely! My next event is in April and will be opened up to more people; it will also include an introduction to yoga as this is another area of wellbeing I LOVE. The aim of these events is to build support and ultimately a community of strong women all encouraging each other to feel good about themselves and get healthy together.
What is your favourite tool or app that helps in your content creation?
I'm a fan of Filmora for editing my videos, it's been a great tool for someone that's not done much in terms of digital editing before!
Who is your blogging/vlogging/content inspiration and why?
I think Shona Vertue is just brilliant! She is so real and so knowledgeable, two things I am very passionate about myself and I learn new things from every post she does!
What do you like to do on weekends? Where can we find you hanging out?
Outside! I've always lived in the countryside and grew up on a farm so getting outdoors is really important to me. I enjoy getting out on my mountain bike or going for a run, but during the better months we grow our own vegetables so I'm often in the garden (which doesn't sound very rock n roll...but it's very rewarding!!)
If you could go anywhere in the world or experience any one thing, what would it be?
Gosh, there are so many places I want to explore and experience! However, I would absolutely love to go out to Bali to a yoga retreat for a few weeks. I'm enjoying learning more and more about yoga so this would be a real treat.
What're your tips for staying motivated and/or organised in your work?
Having goals. It might sound like the most basic strategy ever but it works every time. If I'm feeling a bit stuck in a rut, I write down where I want to be, then I can devise a plan to get there, whether that be with my fitness, my business or just personal goals.
What is the one piece of advice you’d give other content creators & aspiring bloggers/vloggers?
Speak to as many other people in your industry as you can. You will never stop learning and you will also be reassured that others have their struggles and overcome them, just as you will.
Fun/Random fact about you (go on, surprise us!):
I used to horse ride for Great Britain as a member of their junior eventing team.
